Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant (OHLG)

On 21 December 2021 the government announced a new Omicron business grant scheme intended to help venues offering in-person services affected by a drop in customers due to the Omicron variant as people were reluctant to mix socially indoors. The scheme includes the mandatory Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant (OHLG) scheme which applies to businesses in the hospitality, leisure and accommodation sectors, shown in the business rates list on 30 December 2021.

Discretionary Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant (OHLG ARG)

The government also announced funding to allow local authorities to create discretionary grant schemes (OHLG ARG) to assist businesses which do not appear in the business rates list but have been severely impacted by the Covid-19 Omicron variant. To reflect West Norfolk?s economic priorities, and to reflect the level of funding we have, we have prioritised support for businesses in sectors severely impacted by the reluctance of the public to mix socially indoors, or by the travel restrictions initially imposed due to Omicron. These are sectors providing indoor, in-person services which do not meet the criteria for the main Omicron grant.
